Hi All
Newent Nine
We had over 20 runners from the club take part in the Newent Nine on the 21st November. There were people from across all groups which was great to see. The weather was glorious. The course is a tough one – it feels that it is up hill for the first 5k! The views from the top make it worthwhile though. It is downhill from there with a long slog from 7 – 8K through was used to be the longest cul-de-sac in Europe. (Not sure if it still holds that honour!)
It was great to have lots of support as the runners came into the town. The sting in the tail is that you hit the 9K mark at the the bottom of Watery Lane and you still have about 0.5 K to go!
It is a well organised race and the cake at the end was welcome and up to it’s usual standard!
Well done to every one who took part. Hope to see you all next year!
Couch to 5K
We will be holding another Couch to 5K course starting on 11th January 2022. If you know anyone who would be interested in joining, please ask them to email info@ledburyharriers.co.uk for more information. We will be putting out information on our Facebook page and in other places. There will be 12 places available on this course.
The course will be run by Jayne Cresswell. If anyone would like to help out by taking a group during the 9 week course, please let Jayne know.
Minutes from meeting 18th November
The minutes from the club meeting on the 18th November can be found here:-
Club Kit / Old kit sale
We are getting low on stocks of our club vests and T-shirts. If you think you will want one in the near future, please let Neil Grinnell (neilgrinnell@yahoo.co.uk) know and if we haven’t got your size we can add it to our next order.
We also have some old kit – mainly long sleeved T Shirts in large and X-large sizes. There are a couple of ladies t-shirts in a size 14 plus some shorts. All of this will be available on Tuesday after running at a bargain price of £5 a piece.
New Years Day Parkrun
It looks like Mallard’s Pike parkrun is a favourite choice to go to on New Year’s Day. We will confirm nearer the time that the run will take place.
Thursday Night Session
Apologies for those of you who turned up on Thursday night for the hill session. It will take place this week – meet at 6:30pm at the Market House
The interval session will meet as normal at 6:30 at the Price Rupert/New Mills Road junction.
Magnificent Eastnor Castle 7 2022
We are hoping to run this event again this year. We are just waiting for confirmation from the Eastnor Estate about the date but please pencil in 3rd April 2022 as the likely date. More details as they become available.
Sessions over Xmas and New Year
The last Tuesday session of 2021 will be on the 21st December. Please stay for drinks after running (and hopefully mince pies). Club runs will start again on the 4th January.
AGM
The AGM will take place at the Rugby Club on Thursday 13th January at 7:45pm. We have a vacancy for a Health and Safety Co-ordinator. If anyone is interested in this position, please get in touch with me and I will let you know what it involves.
Everyone from the club is welcome to attend the meeting and if there are any items that you would like to be discussed, please let me know.
Ledbury Food Bank Collection
As we have done, for the past couple of years, we will be having a collection for Ledbury Food Bank again in December. I will be collecting contributions on Tuesday 7th and 14th December. The Food Bank is in need of toiletry items (shower gel, deodorant, soap, washing powder) as well as food items. All donations will be gratefully received.
The next newsletter will be at the end of December and will be a review of the year and a look forward to events happening in 2022. If you have any contributions, please let me have them before Christmas.
Thanks
Helen
