Newsletter – 20th March 2022

Hi there

Lots of news so a slighltly earlier than usual newsletter.

Magnificent Eastnor Castle  7

The Magnificent Eastnor Castle 7 takes place on 3rd April – starting at 11am.  We have over 200 entries this year.  We need your help for Marshall’s on the day or help with setting up the course on Saturday 2nd. Please let Chris Law know if you can help.  chrislaw65@yahoo.co.uk  You would need to be available at 9:30 on the Sunday – generally finished by 1:30pm  Start time on Saturday is 8:30am – meet at the Rugby Club.

Eastnor School PTA are running a cake and drink stall at the event to raise money for school funds.  If you are able to donate cakes, please bring them down on the day or let me know and I can arrange to take them over for you.

Run on 29th March from Eastnor Deer Park 6:30pm

As is customary, we run from Eastnor Deer Park on the Tuesday before the race so that people who are not familiar with the park can see where we start.  The groups then run in the Deer Park.  The faster groups (Runners, Sprinters and Fast Group) usually do the whole route whereas the other groups do part of the route or just have a nice run in the park.  There will be leaders there for all the usual groups so please do come and join us.

We will meet at 6:15pm for a 6:30 start so we can get finished in the light.  We use the Campsite entrance (the next one on from the Woodshed entrance)   Code for the gate will be given out nearer the time.  Follow the road into the park and you will see us parked on the left-hand side  just before the turn that goes up to the Obelisk.

Couch to 5K

Congratulations to our latest graduates from the Couch to 5K programme.  We hope you enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you soon on a Tuesday night with one of the groups.

Thanks to Jayne Cresswell for organising it and to all of the helpers who took out a group during the programme.

We will look to run another course in September.

Pub runs

From June to September we have a run from a pub on the first Tuesday of the month.  We then meet back at the pub for a drink, chips and a chance to socialise.  Please keep an eye out for more details as they come.

The latest results can be found here:-Championship Results

The next race in the championship is the Pendock Spring Chicken Run – both 10K or 5K to count.

Social events

Since the last newsletter, there has been a number of social events – wine tasting, a social sunday run and a walk up Pen-y-Fan is planned for the 20th March.

If there is something that you would like to see as a social event, please let Jo Taylor-Greig know and hopefully between you, it can be organised.

Race reports

There is now a page on the website with the Race Reports.

Race Reports

The latest one to go on there is from Catherine Every about the Round Rhayader 30Km run.  The scenary is lovely but remember that not everyone gets their own personalised race entry pick-up area!  (Hopefully that will get you intrigued so you’ll go and have a look!)

Upcoming Races

In other changes to the website, we now have a page with the upcoming races on.  Please let either myself or David Bannister know if there are races to be included here.  We will do our best to keep this updated.
