March Newsletter

Hi Harriers

As we move towards Spring and the lighter evenings more of you will no doubt be getting out and about. Club runs will become more interesting as we will be able to get out in the countryside. Please keep an eye out for announcements about runs that need off road footwear or that start from different places.

Mag7 Race

We of course had the Magnificent Eastnor Castle 7 race last week which was a great success. The feedback from runnners (and dogs) was all very positive and the weather was kind. A huge thanks goes to Chris and Helen for the organisation, Rachel for the publicity and to all of the volunteers who helped on both Saturday and Sunday. Planning for next years race has no doubt started already!

Membership

The new membership year starts on 1st April. The application form is on the website. Sally and I would appreciate if as many as possible can pay by bank transfer rather than cash or cheque, particularly as the club account is with Barclays and the branch in the town closed last year.

Membership fees for the club remain unchanged at £15 but for those who want UK Athletics affiliation the fee is now £32 due to an increase in those fees. Affiliated membership is only available until the end of May so please get those applications in as soon as possible.

Even if you have been a member of the club for many years we do need a new application form every year to comply with GDPR and privacy regulations.

Town Trail Clean up

We had planned a morning helping to clear up the Town Trail today (26th March). We had to postpone this due to the bad weather and the state of the trail. Apologies to those who didn’t get the message and turned up. We will be rearranging it, probably for May.

ICE Tags

We have a new supply of ICE Tags for all members who ask for them when you renew your membership. I will bring them with me on Tuesday nights.

Facebook Members Only page

As many of you are aware we now have a new facebook page which is limited to current members. If you have not yet joined please apply and we will let you in.

I am off for a snooze having completed the Pendock Spring Chicken 10k this morning together with another 5 Harriers. The ground was testing but I managed to be first male Harrier home. (Admittedly I was the only male Harrier in the race).

Have a great month running and I hope to see you soon.

Mark
