October Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

At least it has stopped raining for a few days which makes it a bit more pleasant to go out for a run. On the other hand the hour has come off and it will be dark so early.

Just a reminder to please wear reflective clothing and a head torch if possible when coming to club runs on a Tuesday.

A few things to mention this month.

Newent Nine

Only 3 weeks to go until this year’s race. I know that about 20 of us have already signed up. There are still a few places left so if you want to run I would apply soon to avoid disappointment.

We will arrange a recce run before the race. Keep an eye on facebook and the website for details.

Newent parkrun takeover – 7th December

The club will be providing all of the volunteers to run Newent parkrun on 7th December. Thank you to those of you who have already told me they can help. If you are able to help please let me know and which role you would like to do. We will need timekeepers, a barcode scanner, someone to hand out finish tokens and several marshals. If you don’t know what is involved or have never been to a parkrun just ask me.

Winter Cross Country League

The first race of the winter is on 10th November at Bearwood. Let Neil Grinnell know if you are interested in running that race or any others in the series so that he can get you registered. It would be great if we could have both a mens and womens team in each race.

Fun and Fast

The Thursday evening fun and fast sessions have resumed at their new venue, under the viaduct off Ballard Close. Dave Elks puts a post on facebook every week and the meeting time is 6.00. Just come along if you want to have a go, every pace is catered for.

Finally…

A big thank you to Helen Keegan for organising the collection of old running shoes for Jog on Again and to all who contributed. We sent 25 pairs of shoes for reuse. We will organise another collection in the New Year.

Have a good month running and hope to see lots of you on Tuesday evenings.

Best wishes

Mark
