June Newsletter

June has been very warm and running has been quite difficult over the last few weeks but we have still been getting good turn outs for club runs on a Tuesday evening.

Firstly, a couple of thankyous.

We had a really good turn out for the litter pick along the Riverside Walk and the by pass on 11th June. Ten of us collected and the Town Council have thanked us for our efforts.

The volunteer takeover at Newent parkrun on 24th June was a great success. We covered all of the volunteer positions making life very easy for the Run Directors. Thank you to everyone for turning out.

Training For Run Leaders

We have secured some funding for anyone who wants to do the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course run by England Athletics. The course is mainly online. Please let me know if you would like to do it.

We would also encourage anyone who would like to have a go at leading club runs on Tuesday evenings. We have about a dozen of us who currently lead the groups but a few more would mean that we would all have to do it less often. Again please let me know if you are interested.

July Pub Run

This month’s pub run is from The Beauchamp Arms in Dymock on 4th July. Meet as usual at 6.30 for a 6.45 start. The pub is opening specially for us that evening and as usual there will be chips!

Summer Cross Country

We are hosting the final race of the season at Westons Cider on Wednesday 26th July. We will be looking for volunteers to help set up the course and to marshal. Please save the date and further details will follow. We will also have the club run on 18th July on the course so everyone can have a go at it.

Upcoming Races

If you are thinking of doing some races in the next month here are a few to consider:

Have a great month running in July.
