Of course occasionally member enter races too! Our membership offers a choice of with or without England Athletics affiliation. Getting affiliation tends to reduce most race entry costs by roughly £2, so if you race a lot it’s worth doing.
As a club several members can be seen running at local races as well as various races further afield. From 5k parkruns (not races) to Ultra Marathons, we run them all. We are also very much involved in the Herefordshire and Borders Winter and Summer Cross Country leagues, usually organising the final race in the summer league at Weston’s Cider orchards.
We are currently in the process of revamping the Ledbury Harriers Champions League, which is a little competition for members involving lots of local races and parkruns. Not solely based on speed either, we hope to make the next incarnation of this competition more inclusive.
The other initiative for 2024 will be club standards! Watch this space for more information, but this will allow members to claim awards for hitting targets based on age group times at all mainstream race distances from 5km to Marathon.
