Message from Chris regarding the MEC7 on the 25th April
Hi Harriers,
Many thanks to those of you who’ve volunteered to help with this year’s event. For Sunday please check names on the attached map – apologies- it’s very scrappy. See key for all day, AM or PM slots. If you can’t see your name on the sheet then please come and help anyway – just head for the start / finish area and we will assign you a job. If you don’t know the course and can’t tell where you should be then we’ll show you on the day, or better still join one of the groups running the course Tuesday evening April 20th.
Saturday April 24th: Course set-up.
Please meet at the Rugby Club at 08.30. Please wear warm clothes and shoes you won’t mind getting muddy. Please bring something to cut tape with – e.g. scissors. So far I have the following, but please feel free to join us either at the Rugby Club or in the deer park itself at about 09.30 – we could do with another 2-3 people. In the past we have usually completed setting up the course by about 12.30 Saturday:
Chris L
Martin (and van)
Barry
Clifford
Dave Bannister
Mark Lister
Ilse Kemp.
Sunday April 25th.
I will be on site from about 8am onwards struggling to put up the event shelter. Any help doing that would be appreciated. Course checkers (Barry etc) please ensure you’ve set off by 08.30 at the latest to give you enough time to get to your marshal points. Those doing remote sections along the Ridgeway and Worcestershire Way you might want to bring your off-road bicycle. Marshals please bring warm / wet-weather clothing, some food and drink, and some cutters and a bin bag will also be helpful.
Please also have your mobile phone with you (charged) so you can call me on 07960 866381 should you need assistance. If a runner is injured and needs medical attention please call this number. Runners will be told to let marshals know of any injured runner they encounter on the course.
Neil / Graham – please warn runners to about first grid on Worcestershire Way – tell them to take the gate to the left.
Rachel / Angela and Jo / Maria – please warn runners about the possibility of them slipping on the wooden boards.
Marshal on gates (Dave Elks / Gary Lambert / Mark Lister / Helen Saunders) please ensure that gates are closed if deer approach, and SECURE THE GATE when the sweeper (Tony Saunders) goes through.
AM slot – please be at the start area for 09.15 to collect bibs and for short briefing. If you want to go direct to your station and have marshalled before then all good, just let me know.
PM slot – please make sure you’re at your station for midday. Again – come and speak to us at start area about 20 mins beforehand if you’re unsure of where to go. At 2pm, please all marshals work their way FORWARD to collect all tape and markers to carry back to the race start. Graham Bell and Maria Law – please meet at Grid / Gate 1 to collect stuff in between – then make your way back to start BACKWARDS course-wise to collect all stuff from miles 3-1. We will send a van to pick you up half way.
OK, I think that’s all – I’ll message again if I’ve forgotten anything.
Thanks, Chris Law

Wyedean Relay – August 14th 2021
Wyedean Relay This takes place on 14th August and is a 10 stage race starting and finishing in Chepstow. A team took part in the 2019 one and had a lot of fun doing it – both before the race – checking out the routes – and during. Kate Elkington would love to get a team or two together to do it. If you are interested, then please email Kate kate.elkington1@btinternet.com for more information.
See you on Tuesday in the Deer Park.
