Hi there
Good to see so many Ledbury Harriers names on the Bromyard Round the Down Results today. Well done to David Bannister for his Age Category win. I hope you all had a good run,, enjoyed the scenery. I look forward to putting the race report and photos in next week’s newsletter!
We do have a race report from last weekend from Rachel Bannister:-
“The South African Comrades Marathon is the world’s largest and oldest Ultra Marathon race with a distance of 90km (approx. 56 miles). The direction of the race changes every year, alternating between the ‘up run’ starting from Durban and the ‘down run’ starting from Pietermaritzburg. This year was the centenary year, and due to the ongoing pandemic, was held as a virtual event with different distances, known as The Comrades Marathon Centenary Hope Challenge. The aim was to run for hope for a better and brighter tomorrow beyond Covid-19. So last Sunday, David & I took on the 45k ‘half’ distance, along with our South African running buddy who has ran the real 90k event twice, once in each direction (down is worse, apparently!). With a 6:30am start to try and beat the worst of the heat, we had a great time melting in 30 degree temperatures as we ran round the Worcestershire countryside. 28 very toasty miles done, and got to share in a tiny part of Comrades centenary history.”
