Subscriptions:-

These are normally collected from 1st April.  England Athletics have extended the deadline for England Athletic Membership to 31st August 2020 .  Sue has been unable to do the electronic membership entry form for this year so we are back to the usual paper-based method.  The form is on both Facebook and the Club Website.  Please make sure that you use the updated form and that you have the correct bank details on any BACS payment you make.  Any queries, please let either myself or Sue know.

Change in Government Advice regarding exercise as of 13th May 2020

From Wednesday 13th May, the advice for people in England regarding exercise changed.  You are now allowed to do as much exercise as you like outside.  You can also exercise with one other person outside of your household providing that you follow social distancing guidelines of remaining 2m apart.  You can also travel to take exercise providing that you do not go to Wales or Scotland.

Full guidance on the new rules can be found here:-

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

Group meetings (such as the club sessions) are not allowed at present.

Ledbury Harriers Virtual Challenge 3

We are currently working our way across America on Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica in California.  As of the last calculation we had covered 1085 miles out of 2448 so almost halfway there.  This time we have had a playlist  complied as we have gone along with nominated members adding their choice to our growing list.  For me, it has been a musical education.  I have listened to songs that I didn’t know about so thank you for all your contributions.  52 people have taken part so far this week and there will be about another 5-6 days until we reach our goal, so please continue to add your mileage to the relevant FB post or email me at helen@greendawnaccounting.co.uk .

Virtual Parkruns

If you are missing your regular Saturday parkrun, please see both Ross-on-Wye and Newent’s Facebook pages where a virtual parkrun is taking place each week.  You run your 5km and post your time.  Results are then posted!  Just like a normal Saturday.  This can be a good incentive to get out and run.

Routes and Photos

Thank you to Neil Grinnell for starting a post last week on FB showing all the beautiful places that people have run during lockdown and this got me thinking.  (Don’t worry, this will all stop when I have to start worrying about Lead Runners Rotas!)

Would anyone be willing to take on a project of getting pictures and running routes into a  format such as a 2021 Calendar or a booklet of runs and/or also on the Website so that we can all benefit from the collective knowledge that we have of great places to run round Ledbury?   (And have great pictures to look at as well) (not necessarily these ideas – this is what popped into my head)

If you are interested, please let me know  and also share your ideas of how we can use these items to come up with something for the club.

That’s it for now.  Hope you have all have a safe and healthy week.  If guidance changes regarding exercise, club runs etc we will update you.
