Newsletter 6th September 2020

It was great to see many of you back running at the club last week.  I hope it all worked out well for you all.

I am hoping that next week – 15th September, we will be able to put on 2 groups for most paces.  I will let you know when leaders have been confirmed.

Obviously putting on more groups does stretch our lead runner numbers so if any of you would like to volunteer to lead a group – whether as a regular leader or just occasionally, please talk to either your lead runner or let me know and we can fill you in on what  the role entails.

Lead Runners for this week are:-

Sprinters – Holly

Runners – Helen

Easy Runners – Chloe

Gentle Joggers – Denise

Jeffers – Kate

Sign up for Club runs

There is a limit to 5 runners plus a leader for each group with the exception of the Fast group which is 6 runners in total (no leader)

If, after signing up, you find that you can’t run on that night, please remove your name so that others can sign up.

If you could sign up by Monday evening, that will allow our Lead Runners to see who is in their group.

Please read our Risk Assessment and guidelines to Runners which can be found here.

Guidelines for Running with the Club

I have been informed by the Rugby Club that the toilets will be open but they would prefer if they were used for emergencies only.

Please arrive at the club ready to run at 6:45.  The groups will set off in order starting with the Fast Group to avoid congestion on the Ross Road.

As a reminder the group paces and mileage are:-

Jeffers:- Run/walk group – about 3 miles

Gentle Joggers: 11:00 – 12:00 min miles – about 3-3 ½ miles

Easy Runners: 10:00 – 11:00 min miles – 4 – 4 ½ miles

Runners: 9:00 – 10:00 min miles 4 ½ – 5 miles

Sprinters 8:00 – 9:00 min  miles 5 – 6 miles

Fast Group < 8:00 min miles 7- 8 miles

The groups will meet  in the following places:-

Fast Group: Inside the gate on the grass to the left hand side of the gate as you face the Rugby Club building.

Sprinters: Inside the gate on the grass to the right hand side of the gate as you face the Rugby Club building.

Runners:  On the grass  where we warm up – between the car park and the pitches

Easy Runners: At the right hand side of the building

Gentle Joggers:  To the left of the door – by the disabled parking spaces

Jeffers: far left hand side of the building as you look at it.

There are also some ‘real’ races taking place as well now.

20th September 2020 – Double Gloucester 5 mile run – up ‘that cheese rolling hill’  – twice!!  Don’t let that put you off. Neil says it’s a great race.  https://www.ypbevents.co.uk/trail-runs

The Jon Ward 5K race – Sunday 4th October hosted by Hereford Couriers in memory of one of their runners who passed away in June.  https://herefordcouriers.com/club-races/jonward5k/

Hereford Couriers are also putting on their Xmas race again on the 28th December. https://herefordcouriers.com/club-races/christmas-10k/

This is a lovely but undulating course and gets those Christmas cobwebs blown away.

England Athletics are to release their guidance soon on Cross-Country events so please watch this space. We will let you know if the Herefordshire Winter League is going to be running this year,

If you are taking part in the Virtual London Marathon on 4th October, it would be great to see some pictures from your run/walk  and also your route!

If you know of any other races taking place, be it Virtually, as time trials or actual races under the new guidelines, please let me know so I can add them to the newsletter.
