Hi Everyone,
Another month has gone by, and the hour comes off this weekend, so for many that will mean more runs in the dark and motivation to get out is difficult. You can get around the problem by running with others so why not come out with your friends at the Harriers.
Tuesday Runs
Just a reminder that now that we will be running in the dark to please wear reflective gear and bring a headtorch if possible. Although we run mainly around the town there are some dark paths and occasionally, we may go into the woods.
Fun and Fast – Thursday Evenings
Dave Elks is our leader for these more intense interval training sessions. We usually meet at 6.00 at the corner of Prince Rupert’s Road on New Mills. The sessions vary from week to week with different intervals. Occasionally we go over to Eastnor Deer Park to do hill sessions. Each week’s session is advertised on the club website. Come and join us.
Newent 9 Sunday 19th November
I understand that this has now been sold out. I know that quite a few of us have signed up and we are going to do a recce run on Sunday 5th November, two weeks before the race. If you have signed up for the race or just want to get out for a social run on a Sunday morning we will be meeting in the car park behind the medical centre in Watery Lane, Newent, at 9.30. We plan to stop for coffee and cakes after we have finished if you need more of an incentive to join us.
Cross Country
The second race in the Winter series takes place on Sunday 12th November, hosted by Croft Ambrey running club. Neil will post more details nearer the time.
parkrun Road Trip
Event #1 of Riverside parkrun at Hay on Wye took place yesterday. We are planning an outing to run it on 9th December. There will no doubt be an opportunity to stop somewhere and have breakfast afterwards. Keep an eye out for more details nearer the time and save the date if you are interested, even if you have never done a parkrun before.
C25K Course
Plans are well advanced to run a C25K course in January next year. The course will be run on Sunday mornings and will run for 9 weeks. If you know of anyone who may want to do the course please let them know. If you want to help run the course please let me or Sally Smart know. Full details will be advertised shortly.
AGM January 2024
Advanced notice that the club’s AGM will held in January next year, date and venue to be confirmed. If you think you can help by joining the committee or taking on a more formal role please let me know. We already have on vacancy for next year. Rachel Bannister is stepping down as the club’s social media officer in the New Year so we are looking to fill that position. I’m sure Rachel will be able to give you an idea of what is involved in this important role if you are interested.
I think that’s all for this month but if you want me to include anything in the monthly newsletter or want to write a race report for an event that you have taken part in please send it to me and I can include it in the next one.
Have a great running month in November and hope to see you out and about.
Mark
