November 21st 2021 – Newent 9

Probably the best Harriers attended race of the year!

We had over 20 runners from the club take part in the Newent Nine on the 21st November.  There were people from across all groups which was great to see. The weather was glorious.  The course is a tough one  – it feels that it is up hill for the first 5k!  The views from the top make it worthwhile though.  It is downhill from there with a long slog from 7 – 8K through was used to be the longest cul-de-sac in Europe. (Not sure if it still holds that honour!)

It was great to have lots of support as the runners came into the town.  The sting in the tail is that you hit the 9K mark at the the bottom of Watery Lane and you still have about 0.5 K to go!

It is a well organised race and the cake at the end was welcome and up to it’s usual standard!

Well done to every one who took part.  Hope to see you all next year!
