It’s a bit of a short one this week. Contributions to the newsletter are always welcome! Please email them through to me at helen@greendawnaccounting.co,uk. Anything that you think would be of interest to the members is welcome.
Subscriptions:-
These are normally collected from 1st April. England Athletics have extended the deadline for England Athletic Membership to 31st August 2020 . Sue has been unable to do the electronic membership entry form for this year so we are back to the usual paper-based method. The form is on both Facebook and the Club Website. Please make sure that you use the updated form and that you have the correct bank details on any BACS payment you make. Any queries, please let either myself or Sue know.
Membership form can be found here:-

Change in Government Advice regarding exercise as of 1st June 2020
The government guidance can be found here.
England Athletics have now updated their guidance on resuming athletics activity.
This is the advice:-
- Exercise outdoors only in groups of up to 6 people providing athletes/runners maintain social distancing advice i.e. 2m apart if from a different household
- A coach and up to 5 athletes or runners can train together provided they maintain social distancing i.e. 2m apart if from a different household
Full details can be found here:-
At the moment, this means that we will not be running as a club. We will keep in touch by newsletters and virtual events. As soon as we are able to meet safely as a group we will let you know.
Virtual Parkruns
If you are missing your regular Saturday parkrun, please see both Ross-on-Wye and Newent’s Facebook pages where a virtual parkrun is taking place each week. You run your 5km and post your time. Results are then posted! Just like a normal Saturday. This can be a good incentive to get out and run.
Virtual Challenge 4 – Hares vs Tortoises
34 people signed up for this challenge. 2 Teams – each person running as far as they can in 30 mins. The team with the most miles covered wins.
Just waiting for the final scores to come in. It’s nail-biting stuff as both teams are really close. Will update you with the final outcome later!
Do you want to carry on with the Virtual Challenges? I have been told by people that it is keeping them in touch and motivated to run. I am happy to keep doing them. If so, what do you want to do for the next one? Another short one like this week’s or another travel one? A tour of European Capitals has been suggested. Let me know what you think.
Have a good week. Take care and keep safe.
